Kim's Kloset ~ A Dream Come
Helping women with cancer is something that I have the privilege of doing every day!!
I love to see the look on their face when they look in the mirror for the first time after a makeover.
I truly have the best job in the entire world.
Eight years ago Mike and I wanted to add to the work that we do the help even more women with cancer.
When we first started the Hello Gorgeous! program, we only offered the surprise makeover. A woman with cancer would have to be nominated by a loved one and we would work with them to pull the surprise of a lifetime.
What we soon realized is that some women didn’t have a support system to nominate her, or there were women that we helped once with a makeover and who had been re-diagnosed, and we couldn’t offer any type of assistance.
That is when the dream of Kim's Kloset emerged.
I wanted a place, in our office where I could serve women with cancer that may not have a support system or a woman that had been re-diagnosed, to give her a pick me up.
I was thinking of a small 10x10 space in the back corner, for some privacy. I asked Mike to hang a mirror and purchase a styling chair, and I could make it work.
Life happened and we let the dream just simmer for a few years. Then it came to the surface again and for the last 2 years, we have been working to make this dream a reality.
With the help of a team of some amazing volunteers and sponsors, Kim's Kloset is now open and is more than I could have ever imagined. This salon will create an experience for women battling cancer that will keep them safe and offer them some time away from what has now become their new reality.
Kim's Kloset has a fireplace, a pink couch, and a chandelier.
On March 6th, 2023 we celebrated the opening of Kim's Kloset with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. March 6th would have been Michael's 62nd birthday. I felt it was a great way to celebrate and honor him.
We look forward to helping many women with cancer smile in this beautiful space.
